Wind River Indian Reservation/Lander, WY – Today I traveled to the Wind River Indian Reservation to meet with 200 youth members of the Wind River Unity Council at their monthly meeting.

I proposed a hip and relevant youth-led publication (digital and print) as a voice of the youth of the Wind River Indian reservation:

The Goals

WRUCstagekids2• Work with ambitious youth committed to positive influence and change on the Wind River Indian Reservation (WRIR) to launch a youth-led publication.
• Document life on the WRIR through their eyes in the form of a timely youth-led news source. Help them find their voice in the public sphere of ideas and Democracy.
• Reach youth on the WRIR as well as non-American Indian readers beyond the borders of the reservation in Wyoming (and neighboring states) as an official voice of tribal youth in our region.
• Teach the WRUC students about the importance of freedom of expression as a human right.

A lot of hands went up when asked who may be interested in participating! So next step is to create an action plan and start raising funds.

WRUCproposalmeetingoct2015I am really happy about working with these kids, they were so respectful, well-spoken and committed to positive influence on the WRIR. Stay tuned!
